Son of Albert and Marjorie LaShier, he spent his childhood on beautiful Canandaigua Lake, graduated from Middlesex Valley Central School (now Marcus Whitman) in 1967 and SUNY Geneseo in 1972. A quiet, unassuming guy, he was an excellent writer, gourmet cook, lover of baseball and many genres of music. She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur “Buddy” Phillips; her son, Randy Phillips; her parents, William and Susan Stetzel; and her sister, Bette Morrison.
