Obituary

Penn Yan- Marjorie Ellen “Margie” Runner, age 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Keuka Comfort Care Home.

A private burial will be held on Sunday, July 27 at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend a reception at the Gorham Fire Hall following the burial.

Memorial contributions in Marjorie’s name can be made to Keuka Comfort Care Home, P.O. Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527 or to Clinton Crest Manor, 411 Clinton St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.

Marjorie was born on July 26, 1925, a daughter of the late J. Wesley and Lottie Bowersox Clarke. She worked many years at the Gorham School, first as a secretary and later in the cafeteria, she retired as a secretary for Robson Seed Farm in Hall. After retirement she spent a lot of time volunteering for various organizations including F.F. Thompson Hospital. Margie enjoyed living a simple life; taking care of her home, walking, mowing and playing cards.

 Margie was a member of the Gorham United Methodist Church and the Gorham Fire Bells.

Margie is survived by her children, Martin (Colleen) Runner, Diana (Don) Marks, Phyllis (Mark) Enos and Linda (Tony) Maio; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Johnson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Margie was predeceased by her husband, Carl “Arthur” Runner; her parents; and siblings, Helen Dunn, Sylvia Runner and Larry Clarke.
