Obituary
Penn Yan- Loretta Mae Hobart, age 89, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 3-5 p.m. at the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. A celebration of Loretta’s Life will follow at the Branchport Fire Department. Burial will be in Nettle Valley Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions in Loretta’s name can be made to the National Humane Society, 40 East Main St. #364-F, Newark, DE 19711.
Loretta was born on November 27, 1936, a daughter of the late Floyd and Bertha (Ergot) Washburn. She spent many years as a waitress and was a former member of the Potter Baptist Church. Loretta enjoyed crocheting and flowers. In her younger years she was a stock car racer in the Powder Puff Derby. Most of all Loretta loved her family and her biggest accomplishments in life were being a wife and mother.
Loretta is survived by her sister, Leona “PeeWee” (late Jim) Bush; grandson, Roy (Tina) Hobart Halstead; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Shawn Hobart Halstead; great-great-grandchildren, Walter, Ivy and Leo; like a daughter, Debbie (Donald) Derleth; many nieces and nephews including two wonderful nephews, Dale Thompson and Don Everson.
Loretta was predeceased by her parents; husband, Walter Ernest Hobart; son, Walter Chester “Sonny” Hobart; grandson, Shawn Patrick Michael Hobart; sister, Waneta Hainsworth-Yaw; and a brother, Floyd Washburn.
