Obituary

Stanley- Karen Lela Green, age 48, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Friends may call Thursday (June 13th) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home in Gorham.

Karen Lela Green, 48, was born in the Bi-Centennial year and was awarded the “Baldest Baby in Rushville” at the Celebration held that summer. Growing up she hated clothes and could often be found running naked around the back yard. She loved to fish, starting with worms and graduating to Hula Poppers as she grew up. Karen was a fan of “big hair” and used her portion of Aqua Net. Socks were not cool to her, no matter how much snow was out there.

Her love for cats started at a young age and continued throughout her life. She never met a cat she did not try to win over or to just pet. Karen also had the travel bug and saw a lot of the country. She would pack up her Isuzu and head out to explore. Hawaii was a favorite place of hers and she went several times, living there for awhile at one time. She also went to Amsterdam with family for an amazing visit.

Music was important to her and she was a Grateful Dead Fan and enjoyed them several times with her brother, Kyle, sister, Kim and her mom, Judy. Judy and Aunt Becky dragged her to a Dave Matthews Band show and she was not impressed! But, she did like Phil Collins and saw him in Buffalo with her Mom, Aunt Becky, Kim and Grandma Jean. There were many artists she liked.

Karen worked at Bristol’s Garden Center for many years but never planted flowers at home. She was a caregiver to her mom, whom she loved the most.

Karen is survived by her sister Kim (Chris) Werman; brother Kyle Green; her cats; and nephews Trey, Drew and Gabe Wertman

She is also survived by 3 aunts, Becky Kindelberger, Annette Hoban and Ellen Van Keuren; uncle, Dennis (Linda) Green; and many cousins.

Karen was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Judy Green; and 4 uncles, Robin Kindelberger, Pat Hoban, Rich Van Keuren and Al Green.

She is already missed by those who loved her.
