Ella R. Garman

Penn Yan/Benton- Ella R. Garman, 74, of 2845 Rasmussen Rd., Penn Yan, NY, 14527, wife of Aaron Z. Garman, entered into rest at home on Sunday, July 20, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.

Ella was born in New Holland, PA on March 3, 1951, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Susan M. Hoover. She was a member of the Benton Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Ella is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Aaron Z. Garman; 3 sons and 7 daughters, Esther Garman at home, David (Lydia Ann) Garman of Penn Yan, NY, Mary (Daniel) Leid of Thorp, WI, Erma (Andrew) Martin of Stevens, PA, Daniel (Dorcas) of Penn Yan, NY, Alta (Harold) Nolt of East Earl, PA, Aaron (Lynette) Garman of Penn Yan, NY, Ruth (Daniel) Martin of Bellona, NY, Ella Mae (Aaron) Vaughan of Stratford, WI, Miriam (Andrew) Nolt of East Earl, PA; 52 grandchildren; brothers, Aaron (Elsie) Hoover and Henry (Anna) Hoover; sisters, Anna (the late Titus) Martin, Lizzie (the late Mervin) Weaver, Martha (George) Horst, Alta (Clarence) Garman, and 2 sisters-in-law, Nora H. Hoover and Katie R. Hoover.

Ella was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Garman, Janelle Garman and Joshua Garman; and 8 siblings, Mary, Elam, John, Esther, Lena, Emma, Paul and Amos.

Friends, family and neighbors may call on Wednesday, July 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the family home, 2845 Rasmussen Road, Penn Yan. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the Benton Old Order Mennonite Church on Baldwin Road, Penn Yan.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home of Gorham, NY.
