Donations in Don’s memory may be made to Friendship House, 5614 Williams St., Middlesex, NY, 14507.
Don was born on April 3, 1947 in Cherry Hill Township, PA. He attended West Winfield High School, graduating in 1965. He married Linda Leonard in 1969 at the Free Methodist Church in Herkimer, NY. Don and Linda celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2019.
Don graduated from SUNY Morrisville in Morrisville, NY in 1967 focusing on Animal Husbandry which was built upon his years of experience farming that began on his family’s farm in Cedarville, NY. Don’s skill and mastery of managing larger operations brought him to farms in Schuylerville, NY; Emmaus, PA; Canastota, NY; Richfield Springs, NY; Scipio Center, NY and finally to Half Dutch Farm in Clifton Springs, NY where he worked until his health no longer permitted. When not at the farm, Don was an avid canner, active grandparent, and truck driver for local food pantries. If there was still time in the day, Don always had somewhere to be and something to do.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Clyde K. & Veda (Stiles) Waltermire; sisters Thelma Waltermire and Violet Ludwig; brother Sonny Waltermire; and brothers-in-law Rev. Gail McQueen and Edwin Ludwig.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; his children Rebecca (Lee) Gang of Middlesex, NY; Daniel (Deborah) Waltermire of Ilion, NY; his grandchildren Katherine, Emma, Hannah, Megan, Abey, Ethan, Timothy, Malachi, Charlotte, and McKenzie; brothers Benjamin (Marie) Waltermire and Tom (Beth) Waltermire; sisters Patricia (Dale) Stotler, Peggy (Alan) Webber, Nancy (Foster) Constable, MaryLou (James) Emigh, and Judy McQueen; sisters-in-law Linda Waltermire, Rachel (Robert) Ratliff, Martha (Randy) Phillips, Nancy (Charlie) Appel, and Jean (Randy) Krull; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

To Linda, Rebecca, Dan and families; you have our deepest sympathies. Niki and I always look back fondly on our time at the farm many years ago, where Don was always happy to show us around. He was such a hard working man, and I admired that very much. You will all be in our prayers during this difficult time. God bless you all.
