Obituary
Phelps- Donald E. Shaner, age 101, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Phelps American Legion, 1346 NY-96, Phelps, NY 14532.
Don will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery in Phelps.
Don was born on October 4, 1924, a son of the late Albert and Edna (Stokoe) Shaner. He honorably served his country in the Army during World War II. Don retired from Mobil Chemical in Canandaigua. Don was a former member of the Geneva American Legion.
Don is survived by his children, David Shaner, Rick Shaner, Larry Shaner and Patricia (Darryl) Heers; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Shaner; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his parents; wife, Vera (Doland) Shaner; siblings, Marian Stape, Betty Shaner, Kenneth Shaner and Charles Shaner.

He will be missed by many, I was his next door neighbor @ camp for several years .He always enjoyed my children and grandchildren when they would come with me to camp. RIP Don

I knew Don for many years and worked along side of him that whole time at Mobil Chemical/Pactiv.Energectic and fun guy to work with too.We even shared a few beers together on payday and after work.I lost touch with him after his retirement but i would like you know he was a good man and friend to many.God bless.
