Obituary
Penn Yan/Potter- David E. Christensen, age 87, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 13, from noon until 3 p.m. at the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Nettle Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Milly’s Pantry- 19 Main Street, Penn Yan NY 14527.
David was born on September 23, 1938, a son of the late George and Viola (Kjar) Christensen. After he graduated from high school in Penn Yan, he began his career working as a tractor mechanic for C.M. Nielsen in Geneva, NY. He then purchased a small dairy farm that he owned and operated for 25 years plus before becoming a salesman for Jolly/Scott McCredy Chevrolet. David was a member of the International Harvester Club, where he was an active member for years. He always enjoyed searching for the next tractor that he could add to his collection of many.
David is survived by his children, Darryl Christensen, Robyn (Richard) Hall and Julie (Arnie) Christensen; grandchildren, Bruce (Cindy), Christy, Chadwick, Daniel and Jenna (Christopher); great-grandchildren, Olivia (Clifford), Tyler and Jaxon; great-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Arabella, Charlie and Georgia; the mother of his children, Helen Monnen; siblings, Helen (Ed) Dickson, Pauline Carroll and Donald (Phyllis) Christensen; family friend, Brad Gippe; as well as many nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Charles Christensen.
