Obituary

Stanley- Bruce Henry Eriksen Sloth, age 79, passed away at his home on Monday, February 24, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinsons disease.  The family would like to thank the Ontario-Yates Hospice Program for their care and support.

Bruce was born on June 26, 1945, a son of the late Henry and Agnes Nelson Sloth. He was a graduate of Geneva High School. Bruce was a very hard worker, starting Sloth Electric in 1978 and building it for over 40 years.  He was dedicated to his customers and if you called him any time 24 hours a day he would come and fix your problem.  He took great pride that it was a family business and it made him happy that his family is carrying on that tradition. Bruce loved going to their camp in the Adirondacks and their cottage because that meant he was going to be spending time with his family that he treasured.  He loved having family visit and a loud house full of stories and laughter always put a smile on his face.  He was a member of Seneca Number Nine Presbyterian Church.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean M. Barber Sloth; children, Rebecca Cooley, Douglas (Maureen) Sloth and Donald (Karen) Sloth; grandchildren, Kate, Rachel (Jake), Faith, Henry, Hanna, William, James and Robert; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Benjamin and Madelyn; brother, Paul (Marilyn) Sloth; sister, Nancy (Tony) Pitifer; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Melvin (Josephine) Sloth, Esther (Bob) Mosich, Rosa (Harold) Hutchinson and Helen (Charles) Fink.

The family will be having a small private memorial for friends and family in Bruce’s honor.
