Obituary

Gorham/ Waterloo- Betty J. Rogers, age 97, entered Eternal Rest on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 surrounded by family, at Seneca Nursing Home in Waterloo.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home in Gorham. Burial will follow in Gorham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to Rochester Regional Health Hospice Care, 330 Monroe Avenue, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607.

Betty was born in Geneva to Francis and Lauretta Linehan Adams on June 26, 1927. She graduated from Gorham Central School in 1945. Betty worked one year as secretary at Premier Mills before marrying the love of her life, Lloyd W. Rogers. They had 66 wonderful years together, living 54 years in the house they built in Gorham until his passing in November of 2012.

She was employed 28 years at Gorham Central School as a Teachers Reading Aide and other positions. She was a life long member of St. Theresa’s Church in Stanley until it closed. Betty served as past president of the Alter Society and was a Religious Education teacher. She was a member of the Gorham Historical Society and former member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 396. Betty was also a member of the Ontario County Republican Club. She worked many years on the Gorham Board of Election as an Election Inspector.

Betty loved entertaining her family and friends. Among her many interests, her love of music was foremost. Playing the piano for family and friends sing a longs. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Betty enjoyed dancing with the Aragon Dance Club.

Betty also enjoyed flower gardening, golfing, reading, playing cards and travelling. She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida for 25 years.

Betty is survived by three children; Kathleen (Philip) Knapp, Daniel (Diane) Rogers and Patricia (Jim) Maressa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, JoAnne Kindelberger and Patricia Reifsteck Searles; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, husband, Lloyd; her brother, Richard (Shirley Kindelberger Adams) Adams; and brothers-in-law, Bruce Kindelberger, Richard Reifsteck and Fred Searles.
