Obituary
Penn Yan- Cheryl Ann (Ballard) Eagley, age 72, passed away unexpectedly from complications of MS after a 24 day stay at Geneva General Hospital, surrounded by family and friends on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Per Cheryl’s wishes there will be no prior calling hours. A private family viewing will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home, 2583 East Main St., Gorham, NY 14461. Burial will be in Gorham Cemetery immediately following the service. A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held on Saturday, May 10th beginning at 1 p.m. at Tomion’s Event Center.
Memorial contributions in Cheryl’s name can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090-1891.
Cheryl was born on February 8, 1953 to the late Thomas R. and Anna Louise Slocum Ballard. She was a graduate of Dundee High School and Auburn Community College. Cheryl was employed at Community Bank in Penn Yan.
Cheryl enjoyed collecting snowmen. She spent time watching birds at the feeders and working in her flower gardens.
Cheryl loved children, and they loved her as well.
The last several years were a struggle at times for Cheryl, more so the last year. MS deprived her of spending time with her interests, as well as family and friends and performing basic tasks.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, David Eagley; step-children, Nicole and Matthew Eagley; grandchildren, Owen and Raegan Chrysler; Siblings, Ron (Patsy) Ballard, Phil (Kathy) Ballard, Gary (Teresa) Ballard, Duane (Robyn) Ballard, Jan (Janice) Bastian, Toni (William/Bill) Peele, Susan (Gary) Heusler and; brothers-in-law, Robert (Caroline) Eagley, Jr. and Steven (Georgette) Eagley; as well as many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Cheryl was predeceased by her parents; brother-in-law, Brian Bastian; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Elaine Eagley, Sr.; Niece, Shannon Dunton; and her beloved dogs, Maggie, Molly and Annie.
