Obituary
Penn Yan/Benton- Elsie M. Anderson, age 98, passed away in the comfort of her home on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The family will observe a private funeral service. Burial will be in Benton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456.
Elsie was born on June 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Christian and Alma (Nelson) Petersen. Elsie spent her life working on the family farm with her husband Carl and was devoted to taking care of her family. She enjoyed working on her flower gardens and birdwatching.
Elsie is survived by her children, Sue (Tim) Fetterman, Kevin (Laura) Anderson and Kelly (Barry) Hurlburt; grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Anderson, Corey Anderson, Nicholas (Amanda) Hurlburt and Arynn Hurlburt; great-grandchildren, Paislee, Haidyn and Baylor; former daughter-in-law and friend, Lesa Anderson; close friend, Robin.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Carl; and a granddaughter who Elsie spent her life taking care of, Deidra Anderson.
