Obituary

Keuka Park – Wayne A. Wheeler, age 67, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Penn Yan Moose Lodge from 2–6 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ontario Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456.

Wayne was born on October 12, 1957, to Wendell and Ella Chase Wheeler. He grew up with a strong work ethic and an even stronger love for family and friends. A gifted builder and problem-solver, Wayne spent his career as a self-employed contractor, often accompanied by his loyal friend and work partner, Andy. His craftsmanship was a reflection of who he was—steady, dependable, and built to last.

Outside of work, Wayne’s happiest moments were found in the simple joys of life. He loved the dirt and dust of the motocross track, where he could be found cheering on his son, lending a hand to friends, or making sure every bike was clean, tuned, and ready to ride. Whether riding trails or standing at the sidelines with a grin, he found a deep sense of purpose and pride in those experiences.

Above all, Wayne’s greatest legacy is his family. He is survived by his son, Brandon (Stephanie) Wheeler; his daughter, Hannah (Nick) Wheeler; and his beloved grandson, Marshall, who brought him endless joy. Wayne also leaves behind his mother, Ella Wheeler; siblings Adele Koek, Sue Wheeler, Dan (Lisa) Wheeler, and Rich Wheeler; his loyal dog, Zues; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherished him.

Wayne was predeceased by his father, Wendell Wheeler, with whom he now shares eternal peace.

Those who knew Wayne will remember his generosity, his easy smile, and the way he was always ready to lend a hand. He lived life on his own terms—with grit, heart, and humor—and the impact he left on his family, friends, and community  will carry on for years to come.

The wonder of Wayne
His life was of service to others
Laughing came easy.
Life was a miracle to him.
Knowing the value of money.. he never chased it.
The love he brought to this life is irreplaceable. We need that love.. I'm honored to have been a recipient and an observer, of that love.
I loved him from where the morning sun begins and beyond where it sets.
The world will miss that crazy love.
It is a loss. I grieve his loss with all of you.
I am sorry he's gone.
