Veldon F. Dunton

Middlesex- Veldon F. Dunton, age 92, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 27 from 1- 3 p.m. at the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service will follow calling hours at 3 p.m.. Burial will be in Overackers Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Italy Valley Cemetery, c/o Barry Beechner, 3015 Shay Rd., Naples, NY 14512 or to Middlesex Methodist Church, P.O. Box 116, Middlesex, NY 14507.

Veldon was born on February 11, 1933, a son of the late Vernon and Irene DeWick Dunton. He spent his entire life in the Italy and Middlesex Valleys. Veldon grew up during the great depression, often remarking on how he lived from horse and buggy through a man on the moon. He remembered going from horses on the farm to their first 30 horsepower tractor and what a big deal that was. Veldon was a hard-working farmer; he loved the land and working with his cows. He enjoyed hunting and watching westerns.

Veldon is survived by his children, Marie (Richard) Havens, Wayne (Sabra) Dunton, Daryl (Cynthia) Dunton and Diane (Scott) Grodevant; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Veldon was predeceased by his parents; wife of 46 years, Alice Mae Williams Dunton; 2 brothers, Dale and Leo Dunton; and a granddaughter-in-law, Shannon Dunton.
