Memorial contributions in Don’s name can be made to Marcus Whitman FFA, 4100 Baldwin Rd., Rushville, NY 14544.

Born on December 27, 1940 Don was the youngest child of six born to Raymond and Bessie M (Catlin) Rasmussen. Growing up in a farming family on Turnbull Rd, he attended Rural Schoolhouse No.5 on Wabash Road in the Town of Seneca. Later, he attended Geneva High School where he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Commesso.

Out of school, Don began his 26 year career as a dairy farmer and later a cash crop farmer. Upon retiring from agriculture, he followed up with a second career providing 20 years of service in the Town of Seneca Highway Department. In his early farming years Don had a love for riding and working with horses. He was often called upon by a neighboring horse farm to break their green horses.  He also loved spending time with his dear wife of 52 years, Pat, and other family members doing things such as camping, car shows, and tractor pulls.  In his later years, Don enjoyed breakfast, coffee, and conversations at the Hall Diner and the Old Mill Restaurant to keep up with the latest farming and neighborhood news.

Don is survived by his three children Kathy (Matt) Jones, David (Susan) Rasmussen, and Mark (Beth) Rasmussen; siblings Betty Torpy, Gail Hurrin, Harold Rasmussen; grandchildren Nichole (Matt) Tears, Danielle Jones, Zachary Jones, Olivia Jones, Rachel Rasmussen, Cordell (Alyssa) Rasmussen, Collyn Rasmussen, Amelia Rasmussen; and 6 great grandchildren.

Predeceasing Don were his beloved wife Pat, daughter Cynthia A. Rasmussen, siblings MaryAnn Rasmussen, Barbara J Olsen, sister-in-law Marie (Commesso) D’Agostino Lord, brothers-in-law Bob Torpy, Exton Olsen, and John Hurrin, and granddaughter McKenna Jones.
