Obituary

Gorham- Barbara “Barb” Lippincott, age 77, passed away on March 6, 2025, after a year’s long battle with breast cancer at Clifton Springs Hospital with her family by her side.

Friends and family may call from 2 pm to 4 pm on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Perkins-Ames Funeral Home, 2583 East Main Street in Gorham.  A funeral service will follow at 4 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Gorham Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to the Gorham Free Library, P.O. Box 211, Gorham, NY 14461, Town of Gorham Historical Society, P.O. Box 90, Gorham, NY 14461, Lipson Cancer Institute, 330 Monroe Avenue, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607, or an organization of your choice.

Barb was born on September 13, 1947, the daughter of Emmett “Bud” Updyke and Ethna “Rusty” Emerson.  She graduated from Clifton Springs High School in 1965 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SUNY Oswego.  For thirty-two years she taught fifth grade in the Newark Central School District.  In her retirement she volunteered her time with the Gorham Free Library and Town of Gorham Historical Society.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Ron Lippincott; daughter Kerry Lippincott and son Matthew Lippincott; granddaughters Harlow, Lexi and Layla Lippincott and Evalyn Moore; sister Karen Schinsing; nephews Chris (Jackie) Schinsing and Doug (Emily) Allard; niece Lindsay Schinsing; and great nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. Ignaczak and Nurses Molly and Lynn at the Lipson Cancer Institute and the staff of Clifton Springs Hospital.
