Obituary
Stanley- Ann Marie Thompson-Turner, 94, passed away on December 17,2024 at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
A funeral mass to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at St. Michael’s Church in Penn Yan at 11 am on Saturday, December 21,2024.
Memorial contributions in Ann’s memory can be directed to Our Lady of Lakes Catholic Community in Penn Yan.
Ann was born in 1930 to Marian and Joseph Thompson. She took great pride in being the fourth generation of her family residing in Stanley.
Ann was very active in the community serving as the organist at St. Theresas Church for nearly 50 years. She was also a member of the Rosary Society and religious education teacher at the church. In addition, Ann also served on the Gorham Free Library Board of Directors. She was also a teacher’s aide at Gorham Elementary and ran for New York State Assembly.
She and her husband Bart were married in 1951 and enjoyed nearly 65 years raising their family and enjoying the retirement years. Ann always said; “Raising her six children was her true vocation in life.” She was always involved in their very active lives and enjoyed the wonderful times together and many family gatherings.
Ann is survived by five of her six children Bill, Mary, Dan (Beth), Maggie (Tom), and John (Amy), her 46 grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband William “Bart” Turner, son Michael, son-in-law Dr. Neil Lachant, daughter-in-law Pam, parents Marian and Joseph Thompson, and brothers James and Ronald.
