Obituary
Rushville- John Frank “Long John” Kuras, age 73, beloved father, grandfather and brother passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the Perkins-Ames Funeral Home in Gorham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Canandaigua. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

John was born on December 27, 1950, a son of the late Stanley and Theresa Wassner Kuras. He honorably served his country in the Vietnam War from 1969 – 1973 in the U.S. Navy. John served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and the USS Midway.
John loved cars and motorcycles. He was a founding member of the Spirit Riders. He enjoyed swap meets and flea markets. John was an exceptional woodworker. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his children, Jason (Kathryn Lafler) Kuras, Shawna (Chris Lehman) Kuras, Sara Kuras and Kelly (Vincent) Petersen; 16 grandchildren; siblings, Patricia (Carl Hansley) Martin, Catherine (Terry) Howell, Christine (Alan Colf) Corriveau, Teresa Kuras and Joseph (Lisa) Kuras; the mother of his children, Ellen Kimball; his best friend, Steve Endza; and his canine companion of 13 years, Bella; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was predeceased by his parents.

John you were the best neighbor a guy could ask for we had a lot of laughs and plenty of good times the back yard will never be the same. When I sit on the porch I will always remember the good times. I salute you my brother and Rest In Peace you will be sadly missed but never forgotten you were a great friend John and I will never forget you.
