Obituary
Hall- Carol Jean Oswald, age, 81, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at F. F. Thompson Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Snell Rd., Geneva, NY 14456.

Carol was born on November 10, 1942, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen Egbart Schoen. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Carol was a substitute teacher for Marcus Whitman School District. Carol enjoyed doing embroider work, baking to donate items to local bake sales and riding her bicycle. She could often be seen walking all the blocks in Hall everyday. Carol was active with her husband, George, in Civil War Reenactments with the NY 148th Volunteer Infantry Company E.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Starlet Bostwick; sister, Dorothy Walks; as well as nieces and nephews.
Carol was predeceased by her parents; husband, George E. Oswald, Jr. and a sister, Lila Roe; and close friends, Maggie Moss and Ruth Reo.

Dear Family Members and Friends of Carol,
I was one of Carol's Plymouth (Nebraska) High School classmates. We graduated with a few others (tiny class of 13) from Plymouth High School in May, 1964.
Carol and I both chose to attend Fairbury Junior College (about 20 miles away) in fall, 1964. To save money we shared rides to our college classes. She drove one week and I drove the next week. Carol's parents had this big beautiful Pontiac which which felt like a luxury ride for me. I drove a rather plain Ford that was in a different class.
Our family extends our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Carol's family. Even though she lived a full life -- over 80 years -- it is always a difficult time to lose a family member. We grieve with you at this time.
Somehow Carol and I ended up thousands of miles apart (NY and Alaska) as we moved beyond our Fairbury JC experience. I was astonished to read in her obituary that we ended doing exactly the same kind of reenactment of Civil War history with friends and family. I have a Civil War uniform and all gear which is part of a unit that re-enacts Civil War period history in Alaska -- very similar to what she and her husband enjoyed in New York.
We will mark the calendar on the day of her Memorial service in April and I am certain all of her Plymouth, Nebraska High School classmates will all share special thoughts and prayers for Carol and her family on that day.
