Ferguson Corners- Doris R. Hey, age 99, died at home on Monday, November 19, 2018.
A Celebration of Doris’ Life will be held Saturday (Nov. 24th) at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Burial will be in Shuman Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 514 East Swamp Rd., Penn Yan, NY 14527; Keuka Comfort Care Home, P.O. Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527; or to a charity of donor’s choice.
Doris was born August 14, 1919 in the Town of Potter. She was the daughter of the late Frederick Hey and Lydia Reissig Hey. Doris graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1937. She married Hubert O. Hey on June 29, 1938 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Doris was a life-long member of St. John’s and was active in the church in every capacity. She was an accomplished seamstress and also enjoyed knitting and baking. Doris worked in the Marcus Whitman High School cafeteria for many years. Her family and her church were her top priorities.
Doris is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Dale) Pedersen, Cathleen (Gilbert) Scott and Patricia (Randy) Eddinger; daughter-in-law, Judy Hey; 9 grandchildren, John (Ellen) Hey, Tim (Kim) Hey, Rod (Lynne) Pedersen, Jeffrey (Eileen) Pedersen, Robert Pedersen, Julie (Jeffrey) Amsden, Greg (Lindsay) Scott, Laurie (Scott) Brace and Alexander O. Eddinger; 14 Great-Grandchidren; 6 Great-great-Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Hubert O. Hey in 2009; and her son, David Hey in 2014.
